Kevin's Ramblings…

Hmmm … A few days since my last post, I guess that I don’t have much to say.

This is a short week at work which is good – only two more days to go.

I am seriously thinking about switching to an Android phone from my Blackberry. I am looking at the Motorola Milestone. It looks like a really good phone. I checked out a couple of online reviews and it looks like it’ll do everything that I want. I am tired of the Blackberry. I am off on Friday and may pick it up then – maybe, haven’t quite decided as yet … 🙂

Do you watch Canada’s Worst Driver? It is a pretty good show. The drivers on it SUCK, they are horrible and likely shouldn’t be driving, AT ALL. Some idiot from Ottawa just burned out two clutches while trying to drive a standard and apparently he drives a standard at home. Wow. That’s about all I can say.

Nothing much else going on – fairly boring week. More later I guess.

Daylight savings ended today. Clocks rolled back, did I sleep in? No. I was up at 7am which was magically 6am. That sorta sucks. I did get lots done today though.

My back isn’t sore today, that’s a good thing. J&D are setting up the shop I believe. I wasn’t asked and didn’t volunteer to assist – they should be able to handle it though.

I think it is the Mandarin for dinner tonight, not totally sure.

Back to work tomorrow, only a 4-day work week for me as I am off on Friday. I am getting the brakes done on the Jeep. I should get the switch fixed for the fan but I don’t want to go broke – I’ll get that fixed in the next couple of weeks, hopefully it won’t die before then.

No, I’m not moving, never again if I can help it actually. Sister Joan moved all of her stuff into her store today. Well, actually, Sister Joan didn’t actually move most of the stuff, Dave and I did. My back is sore. I don’t like having a sore back. Oh well, I’ll survive. It is tough for a computer desk jockey to move furniture for 4 hours.

That was today. Nothing planned for tomorrow so that is good. For now, I am watching one of my favourite movies, The Bucket List. If you haven’t seen it, I would highly recommend it.

Well, the weekend is finally here. Two days off just isn’t enough some times, most times … I plan on sleeping in tomorrow. Mind you, now that I am getting older, that means 8am or so. Maybe.

I am helping move large pieces of furniture tomorrow. Oh, how I love moving furniture – oh yes I do. My sisters new business is almost ready to open and now is the time to move the stock in. Fun, fun, fun.

Other than that, I have no plans for the weekend – sounds like a good idea to me.

We had our first baseball meeting last night to begin planning for the 2011 season. We have picked up a few additional Board members which is great. I still don’t plan on coaching next season although I am uncertain who will coach the club. I hope that someone comes through so that I don’t end up feeling pushed into it.

It is almost the end of the week which is good – I look forward to weekends a bit too much. It’ll be a road day at work tomorrow.

Nothing too much to report – that’s it for now.

My new home phone is now working. I know, it is 2010, what am I getting a home number for? Well, my cell phone is actually a work cell so I should have my own number really. I also signed up for DSL internet service so you sorta need phone service to have DSL. Well, you can get DSL without, but, there is an extra charge. So, for a little extra you get the line as well. Complicated? Not really.

There were a couple of changes announced at work. Two people are leaving. One on his own accord, the other, I am not too sure about. Good luck to them both.

Nothing else happening really. First SCMBA Board meeting tomorrow evening. Some new people on the Board, some returning. Hopefully we will have a good crew this year.

Had a good relaxing weekend. It went by too quickly, naturally. When do weekends ever go by too slowly? Has that ever happened?

Back to work today. Not a bad day at work – kept fairly busy.

Scheduled a brake job for the Jeep for a couple of weeks from now. It is just shy of 80000km so it is due. It was quoted at just under $500 so not too bad. I submitted an expense report which will cover that so all is good on that front.

The NDBA AGM is coming up, November 25 I think it is. I am planning on going but have no plans at all at being on the Board again. I think that AD is done as President, not sure there and really not sure what is going to happen with the Association. Actually, I really don’t care all that much either – I did my part, I was on the Board for at least 7 years, maybe longer and that is enough of that. It is a shame that baseball is on a decline and has been on a decline for such a long time. I am sure that at some point it will pick up, hopefully sooner rather than later.

Nothing else much is happening really. Some tech from Distributel is coming tomorrow evening to configure my home phone so that I can use the jacks with their service. It is sorta odd I think that I can’t do it on my own but the person that I talked to on the phone didn’t want to explain it – oh well. Also, people can’t currently call my number, they get the message that the number is not in service. Who knows on that one.

I am watching game 5 of the World Series. It is currently top of 3 and there is no score. I can’t see Texas coming back being down 3 games to 1 – really can’t. Oh well, perhaps it is the Giants time to win, at least Bonds no longer plays for them.

I think that I have to find something to do when I am not coaching baseball. I did nothing today, really, nothing at all.

I guess I’m not really complaining, it was a relaxing day. Had one of those awesome Saturday afternoon naps. Watching game 3 of the World Series tonight. It is currently the top of the ninth and Texas is holding onto a 4-2 lead. They have picked it up a bit after two horrible games.

Nothing much planned for tomorrow either but again, that’s fine by me.

Well, it is finally Friday. This week seems as if it has gone on FOREVER. Glad the weekend is here.

I will be working a 1/2 day at work today, done @ noon. Having some work done in the house after 1pm, yeah, so they say. They will likely show up after 5pm. Of course, if I don’t get home before 1 then they will be here exactly on time. Doesn’t it always work that way?

Nothing really planned for the weekend, just planning on taking it easy. Sister Joan is opening a business, used furniture, etc., and she and DB are going to be painting and what not at the store all weekend – I could help out BUT, I might be busy. I REALLY hate painting but we will see. I will likely drop by for a bit anyway at least – I have great supervisory skills … 🙂

So, guess I will head for work a bit early. I think that it is a road day today. Enjoy your weekend everyone.

Well, I’ve finally broken down and gotten Internet access at home again. I’ve setup DSL service with Distributel, a company based out of Ottawa. It seems pretty good thus far, fairly quick. It also comes with phone service that I really don’t care too much about, however, you need one for the other.

Anyway, I guess that I will be making regular posts again. It’s about time. 🙂
