Busy with baseball…

After a few slow weeks in baseball, we are back to it at full speed this week.

We had a batting cage session yesterday, off tonight, practice on Wednesday then a game on Thursday followed by a tournament Friday, Saturday and hopefully Sunday.  We are pretty busy until the end of the month actually.  As of August we are on a 3 week vacation but I imagine that we will do something, we aren’t missing all of the players for 3 weeks I am sure.

We are in Dundas this weekend.  It’s nice and close, 40 minute drive to the parks I’d guess.  I hope that we are able to finish higher than an extra inning loss in the semi finals…

Blonde is starting to settle down a bit – a very little bit but I can see the difference.  This is a good thing.  She and Zeus are still getting along well and that is a good thing as well.

Not too much else to report – summer is here, it was a hot one today.  Nice and cool in the house though, gotta love AC.

Relaxing weekend thus far…

Well, there doesn’t seem to be any truth to the rumour that I heard yesterday – that’s a good thing.  Just verifying toda.

I watched some ball last night.  One of my coaches plays for the 19u Canadian Thunderbirds.  They won the first game very easily.  That win wrapped up the division for them.  When I left the second game at 10pm, it was the 3rd or 4th inning and they were down 11-4 or so – bad game there.  They play again this morning so I think that I’ll catch the semi-final action.

Nothing else going on this weekend really – taking it easy.

Baseball. Damn Baseball.

I received a call last evening that I really didn’t need.  Apparently, one of my baseball players is playing for another team that could lead to his suspension, and mine if I allow him to play on my team.  Nothing at all against the player and actually, nothing against the team that he wants to play for in addition to my team – he has made my team his priority, at least I think he has.  Baseball Ontario has some odd rules.  As far as I am concerned, if a player wants to play more baseball, all the power to them.  Who cares who is running the program.

So, anyway, I have to deal with this new situation today.  I am hoping that he will decide to drop the other team and play for us.  Guess we will see.

I think this might be it for me.  I may not coach again (for a while) after this year.  Don’t get me wrong.  I am enjoying this season, it is a good group and we are having a good time but I think I need some more time for myself – not sure what I am going to do with that time, but I need some.  If I do coach next season, I will want a business manager associate with the team to handle dealing with the league(s) and the parents, making sure that payments are made, etc.  I am done with that aspect of it.

I have already resigned from the SCMBA Board and will not run again on the NDBA Board – I’ve put my time in there and have had enough of it.  Some people are really helpful, some are not.  Some coaches get you more information than you can possibly need and some never communicate.

Oh well, it has been a good run, that’s for sure.  I am not sure what I would do with 4 weeks of holidays that I could use for myself as opposed to having to take it for baseball – that would be an interesting concept.

Time will tell.

Sick dog…

Warning on this post – some gross content.  Hey, you’ve been warned.  🙂

I was woken up yesterday morning but an odd sound – Blondie was licking something, didn’t know what but it wasn’t me.  It was 4:20am.

I turned on the bed side light.  Nice, a large pile of puke on the floor.  Both dogs ate late on Wednesday evening because I didn’t feed them until I got home from baseball practice so who knows, maybe her young system just can’t take that.

Anyway, Blondie is looking at me like I am going to get mad at her – I don’t, she was sick, what can you do.  I proceed to clean it up.  It’s odd (I think) but I have no problem at all in cleaning up dog puke.  The first time I had to do it with Zeus I figured that I would  be gagging myself, nope, no issues.

I clean it up and try to go back to bed – it is around 4:30am now.

About 10 minutes later, I smell something.  Something BAD.  I am hoping, praying that one of the dogs farted.  On goes the light, I don’t want to step in anything.

Nope, not a fart.  Apparently, a horse has taken a dump in my bedroom.  It is the largest pile of semi-solid shit that I’ve ever seen.  Wow.

Both dogs outside…  I go back upstairs to clean this up and I nearly do puke.  Gross, completely gross.  Blondie is now house trained which is good – she hasn’t had an accident in a few weeks.  She does get a little excited when people she knows come over but in general she’s good.  I know something is wrong with her, oh well, that happens.  I use the H2O Ultra mop that JB bought me and the floor looks good.

Well, by this time it is getting close the 5am, figure I might as well get up.

Blondie is laying on the couch beside me and decides that she wants to puke, all over the couch (it’s leather at least) and the floor.  It is mostly a liquid puke because she’s already gotten rid of her food.  Nice.

Dogs back outside.  Kevin cleans up yet more puke.  It takes a  bit because some of it had went down the side of the couch, between the cushion and edge – awesome…  It took me about 20 minutes to clean up.  I find another pool of liquid puke under the coffee table and clean that up – wow, when this dog pukes, she pukes.

She doesn’t eat her breakfast, not too surprised there.  She does eat a biscuit when I leave for work though.

I get home for lunch and she hasn’t done anything in her crate, this is good.  I really didn’t want to have to bathe her at lunch.  She takes another biscuit and I head back to work.

After work she’s already scheduled to go to the vet so off we go.  Zeus was giving me a really BAD look though the window – essentially it was “what the fuck, you’re taking her for a car ride and NOT ME?” …

In a month, Blondie has put on 12 lbs and now weighs in at 33.8 lbs – just under Zeus’ size.

She gets her last round of shots and some tablets to help settle her stomach – the price tag doesn’t settle my stomach…  All told it is $160.  Yikes.  I am also asked if I am going to have her spayed – yes, of course.  I ask how much that will cost me – about $480.  YIKES.  OK, let’s schedule that for late September when I have 3 pays in the month.

Anyway, on the way home Blondie puked again, not a huge amount at least.  She’s taken 3 of her pills now so maybe that’ll help – I hope she stops the puking because otherwise trying to figure out what’s wrong could be pricey…

She seems to be fine thus far this morning.  I’m keeping my fingers crossed.  🙂

A slow July thus far…

I have moved back to Support Services from the Service Desk.  Had to move desks which is a bit of a pain but what can ya do.  I am doing hardware refresh at the moment that so that will keep me busy for sure.

It is a slow couple of weeks in baseball.  We were supposed to be going to Cooperstown this week but that tournament got cancelled, so, we have a practice this Wednesday and one scheduled for next Wednesday and that’s it…  We are in the Dundas Tournament the next weekend so that will be good – all in all, the season has gone well and it is nearly wrapped up.

Nothing else really going on – I sorta like the chance to relax.

Stratford Tournament Update

We played in the Stratford Bantam Tournament this weekend.  Nice town, good tournament.  This was the second tournament in a row that we lost in the semi-final, in extra innings by a score of 2-1.  Wow.  We played very well though, I was impressed.

I camped this weekend – no dogs.  DB offered, or I guess took me up on my suggestion that he look after the dogs for me over the weekend.  Had a good time.

Made the decision that we will be going to Brantford for OBA’s and not Sault Ste. Marie.  It was going to cost a hell of a lot to go to SSM.

Not too much baseball over the next two weeks because of the Cooperstown Tournament being cancelled.  Oh well.

Anyway, hope you had a good Canada Day Weekend, back to work for most of us tomorrow.

Happy Canada Day !!!

Heading to Stratford for a baseball tournament today.  We play this afternoon and then have two games tomorrow – pretty easy schedule really.

I am camping in Stratford.  I haven’t camped in a few years, 5 or 6 I’d guess.  I hope that my tent is still in one piece, I am sure it will be.  It’s a Swiss Army tent and I think it was guaranteed for 10 years anyway.  Should be fun.

I am dragging one of the players and a coach along with me.  Nice driving with other people anyway, give me someone to talk to.

Happy Canada Day weekend – should be a good one !!!

Over due update…

I haven’t posted in ages.

The team played in the Kingston tournament last weekend, we did very well.  We finished the round-robin in first place with 2 wins and 1 loss.  We got a bye into the semi-final and ended up dropping a 2-1 decision in extra innings.  Our pitcher threw a great game, as did the opponents pitcher – no walks were issued.  It was a shame for either team to lose such a great game, but, that’s the way it goes eh.

We didn’t end up playing this weekend at all.  No contact from the opponent for Saturday’s game which is what happened with the Minor Bantam club as well.  We got rained out today, the field wasn’t playable.

So, that made for a quiet weekend.

I’ve been sick for a few days at least – likely longer than a few days.  I am feeling better though.

We head to Stratford this coming weekend, which is, of course, the Canada Day weekend.  I plan on camping – should be good.

More later I am sure.

Damn puppies…

I left work early yesterday, was feeling like crap.  Got home at about 2:15pm, slept until just after 5pm.  We were supposed to have a baseball practice last night but I saw that a majority of the players weren’t going to go so I cancelled.  Good thing since I wouldn’t have been able to do anything anyway.  I went back to bed around 6pm and slept until 9:30.  Got back up, watched a bit of tv and hit bed for the night @ 10:15 – slept until 5am this morning.  Apparently, I needed some sleep.  I do feel much better this morning though so that is good.  We have a tournament in Kingston this weekend and I was considering not going – that would have been a first for sure.

I got a txt message from BS that he’d be able to join us in Kingston this weekend so that is good.  He must be recovering nicely from his surgery a week ago.  Hopefully he doesn’t overdo it.

Blonde decided to chew through the power cord on my laptop.  Nice.  I am not sure if I have a replacement for it or not, I may not.  The battery is currently full, BUT, it won’t stay that way for sure.  Damn puppies…  She’s currently locked in her crate – the punishment fits the crime – I suppose.

Wish us luck this weekend.

See ya SCMBA

I have resigned from SCMBA.  I am still coaching the Bantam Cobras, I wouldn’t step down from that.  I am no longer on the Board of Directors.  Long story that I am sure that I will relate on here at some point, don’t want to right now.  I am happy about it though – too much bull and too much stress.

I am still the Secretary / Registrar / Peewee Convenor for NDBA.  That job doesn’t take too much time although I am getting a little tired chasing coaches for information.  Oh well.

We have a double header tomorrow versus Bullett.  Should be a good couple of games.  Practice on Thursday and then we are in Kingston this weekend.

Wish us luck.
