The Incredible Hulk – Not very incredible … How about the Horrible Hulk?

Now I know why I don’t watch many movies – too many suck.  Actually, they suck and blow at the same time.

I watched The Incredible Hulk this evening.  Very lame.  I remember watching the series when I was a kid and it wasn’t that bad.  This movie was awful, pure and simple.

It was 2 hours long and I won’t get those 2 hours back.  I thought about turning it off at about 1:30 through the movie and then figured I’d give the rest of it a chance – a mistake.  Oh well, I have made others …

So, as far as a movie review goes, I wouldn’t waste my time if I were you.  Older kids and teens would probably like it, but what do they know about movies?  lol

Hmmm …  I suppose I’d give it a 2 out of 10 and that is being generous.

Nice Relaxing Saturday …

Considering that we didn’t advertise today’s registration in the paper we had a pretty good turnout.  It was advertised on the web site and we did have a lot of enquiries via email so that was good, free as well.

It is nearly 9pm and I am going to be up for a bit I would guess. I had a 3 hour nap this afternoon – died for a bit there …  A good way to spend a Saturday afternoon as far as I am concerned.

So, not a bad Saturday all in all.  Watching The Unforgiven tonight.  It is a good movie if you haven’t seen it.  Clint Eastwood and Morgan Freeman.  I don’t think that Morgan Freeman has been in a movie that I haven’t liked.  He’s a great actor.

Nothing planned for tomorrow.  Nothing at all.  Enjoy your Sunday.

Baseball Season – Right around the corner …

We had our second indoor baseball clinic this evening.  Last weeks clinic was cancelled due to bad weather.  There were 16 players out tonight, 9 majors and 7 minors – good turnout as far as I am concerned for this time of year.  We now take a two week break because of March Break.

We did the regular throwing drills, some fielding, hitting, etc.  We played a three inning game with the Majors playing against the Minors with some special playing rules seeing as we were inside.

Going into the bottom of the third, the Majors held a 6-2 lead but we blew the lead and surrendered 5 runs in the bottom of the inning to let the Minors (who were outnumbered by the way, remember, 9 Majors and 7 Minors) come back for the win.  It was a fun way to end.

Well, that didn’t actually end it.  We did a “Golden Glove” competition.  The players are at one end of the gym and a coach hits and another coach catches.  We hit a ball and the player has to field it cleanly and then make a “good” throw back.  We go through one player at a time until we are left with one winner.

The kids like the competition and it reinforces the skills that we work on each night.

I am optimistic that we will have a good club for the 2010 season.  I am looking forward to getting outside – it’ll be another month or so anyway but it should be good.

Baseball, baseball and more baseball …

Well, not a bad SCMBA Board meeting tonight.  We got a fair amount accomplished, I think.

We decided on uniforms for house league, hats for house league and all-star.  We decided on a few other issues as well – tournaments, teams, etc.

At this point in the season I am unsure if we will have two Peewee clubs (Minor and Major) or a mixed club.  The numbers across the District aren’t good – at any level.  That’s unfortunate.

Well, that is the way that baseball is right now I guess.  We have another registration this coming Saturday, hopefully we’ll get another 50 kids registered or so.

I am looking forward to getting outside again – that will be nice.  Here is to the 2010 season !!!

The Tonight Show with Jay Leno !!!

So I recorded the first episode of the Tonight Show with its proper host, Jay Leno.  I love Jay, loved his show @ 10PM.  I don’t understand why he would have an idiot like Jamie Foxx on as his first guest – do people actually like this guy?  Probably they do, they are Americans after all…  🙂

So, I am sure that Leno will take over the number one spot again, it’ll only take a few weeks.  Letterman sucks – always has, always will.  Conan sucked for the most part as well – no wonder NBC dropped him…  Why they moved him to the 11:35 slot is beyond me, beyond most people I guess.

Just a mini-rant there.  I wish the best for Jay and the Tonight Show.  It is on too late for me, I will just record it and watch it the next day.  Works for me.

I am a little lost right now – no Olympics to watch.  I did enjoy them.  CTV’s coverage was OK, their personalities sucked – well, most of them did.  The people in the morning did and the ex-PM’s son Ben Mulroney sucked (big time).  The evening host is good, always has been, always will be.  I am not sure if he moved over from CBC permanently or just for the Olympics – he’s a good host anyway.

I am looking forward to the 2014 Olympics already.  Maybe, just maybe, I will be able to go.  Only for a week, at the end of the Olympics and only a VERY small maybe, but I’ll see – it would be the trip of a life time, that’s for sure.

That’s it for now.  I am watching Witness with Harrison Ford – haven’t seen it in, well, likely 20 years.  Good night.

No Android, for now …

I have decided to hold off on changing over to the Android, for now …  I am always jumping into things too quickly.  I am happy with my Blackberry, although I do hate being out of memory all the time and having to do a hard reset every day or so – that gets irritating.

I think that I will switch over but not for a couple of months.  No sense spending money that I don’t need to.  WOW, did I just write that or did someone hack my blog?  lol

This week is a bit more of a down week at work thus far – yesterday was a bit slow.  I don’t have a lot of hardware to deliver for some reason – that’s ok though, a bit of a slowdown is welcome.

That’s it for now – more later.

Closing Ceremonies and the Android

Well, a VERY successful Winter Olympics.  Canada finished with 14 gold medals, a record for ANY nation in the Winter Olympics.  I would say that we certainly OWNED the podium in 2010.

The Men’s Hockey Game this afternoon was quite amazing.  To lead 2-0 and then allow the Americans to catch up to win it in OT, simply amazing.  We Canadians can’t take too much pressure though, come on …

We finished in 3rd place medal wise but the 14 golds medals was better than any nation, Germany had 10 and the US 9 – that’s a HUGE margin if you ask me (you didn’t, but you’re reading MY blog).

So, a big congrats to all of the Canadian Athletes who did such a great job in 2010.  We have a LOT to live up to in 2014 in Russia.

On another front, I am actually considering leaving the Blackberry family and moving over to an Android phone.  I played with one at the Telus store at the Pen Centre today and it seemed pretty good.  The best part is that Telus will allow you to return the phone up to 14 days after you purchase it if you aren’t happy – very cool indeed.

So, I might make the switch in the next day or two and I will report if I do and if I am happy …

Out for now – later …

Watching “The Bucket List”

The Bucket List is one of the best movies I have ever seen I think.  I made a post about it a few weeks back, or at least what seems like a few weeks.

It stars Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman – they play Edward and Carter, both terminally ill patients in one of Edwards hospitals.

Sharing the same room, they become friends and Edwards finds a crumpled “bucket list” that Carter was working on when he found out that he didn’t have much time left.

Edwards convinces Carter to do the items on the list.

It is a great movie and brings a tear to your eye at the end.  If you haven’t seen it, I would highly recommend it.

I don’t want a title …

I haven’t posted in a few days – not sure why.  I guess maybe that I haven’t had much to say, imagine that, me – without much to say, that’s impossible.

So, what’s gone on?  Not a heck of a lot really.  I am glad that the week is over – it was a long week.

Canada played Slovakia yesterday and won – by the “skin of our teeth”.  We held a comfortable 3-0 lead going into the dying minutes of the third period but we couldn’t seem to keep the puck out of our own end.  Luongo made some amazing saves and Canada had a LOT of luck on our side and we held on for the win.  We now face the United States in the GOLD medal game on Sunday.

Slovakia will face Finland in the bronze medal game after they (Finland) got hammered by the US on Friday afternoon.  The Americans haven’t lost a game yet in the Olympics – mind you, Canada has only lost once, to the US of course.  I think it should be a different contest with Luongo in net.  Brodeur is a good goalie, he used to be the best goalie in the world but that was years ago.  He is just about ready to retire I’d guess – he likely doesn’t think he’s done yet but he is.  But hey, what the hell do I know about hockey, I am a baseball coach.

Canada also took silver last night in Women’s curling.  We had two chances to win the gold medal but it wasn’t to be.  We did win a couple of other medals in various sports and I think that we have the overall gold medal lead which is pretty freakin’ amazing as far as I am concerned.

We can still win Men’s curling, Men’s hockey – who knows what else is left – not too much I’d doubt.  Pretty successful games all in all.

Our baseball workout last night was cancelled due to bad weather.  It was also cancelled due to the school being closed mind you.  We’ll pick it up next week and I am hoping to see a few more Major Peewee aged players.  It might end up being a mixed club as well, I’m ok with that too.

Well, it is Saturday.  I slept in until almost 8AM.  I did wake up a few times earlier and decided that I wasn’t getting up – forget that…

Have a good weekend.

2010 Olympics

Great hockey game tonight.  Canada versus Russia.  Canada apparently hasn’t defeated the Russians at the Olympics since 1960 …  That is a LONG time …

Well, with 6:00 left in the 3rd period, Canada has a commanding 7-3 lead.  The third period has been a little slower, no real offense from either club.

It sounds to me like the “Fat Lady” is starting to warm up for her big victory song.

The battle is not over yet though – we (as in the BIG we, Canada) need two more wins for a gold medal.  Such pressure to win at what is our National sport.

The Canadian “Chicks with Sticks” play their arch-rival Americans tomorrow evening for the gold medal.  Best of luck on the gold medal win.

This has been a pretty productive Olympics all in all.  I think that the whole “Own the Podium” thing was a bit of a long shot but Canada has done VERY well.  I think we currently stand either 4th or 5th in the medal standings.  Great job Canada – keep it up.

We now have 3 minutes to play in the 3rd – still up 7-3.  We should be able to pull it off unless ALL the wheels fall off and I doubt that will happen.  The team is getting a bit heated which I am not surprised at.  Damn Russians – go home, would ya …

This is a bit of needed revenge.  Russia did after all eliminate Canada in the 2006 Olympics in Italy and our record is a poor 1-9-0 against Russia all time in the Olympics.

I also commented on a post on Facebook by FI today.  He tried to claim that in 1980 the US beat Finland for the gold medal – this is well known as the “Miracle on Ice” and it was the US beating the unbeatable Russian squad.  FI, for some reason is convinced that he is correct.  Anyway, using the rather convenient Internet, I sent him an article on the “Miracle on Ice” – hopefully that will convince him.

So, 2:10 left – 4 on 4 hockey right now.  1:50 to go – still 4 on 4 …  Isn’t this exciting?  🙂

1:30 …  1:28 – offside.  Canada will claim the SEMI-FINAL berth.  🙂

1:10 … 1:00 …  final minute of play in the quarter final.  45 seconds …  30 seconds … 20 … 10 …

The Fat Lady is at her best, Canada WINS BIG TIME 7-3 over the EVIL Communist bastards from Russia !!!  The Russians are going home empty handed – POOR RUSSIA !!!

Awesome, awesome, awesome GAME CANADA !!!  I think that I will wear my Team Canada jersey tomorrow to work.  Congrats !!!
