What happened to Spring?

In typical Calgary fashion, we went from temps in the low teens to -10 and 10″ of snow, hazardous driving conditions and strong winds.

Basically, a very typical Spring.

I really can’t complain (although I will) as we really haven’t had much of a winter. We had two weeks of cold and snow over Christmas, January was way above seasonal norms, February was up and down. March started out mild and I guess the old saying, in like a lamb, out like a lion is true.

We are winding down the month and we are getting, what I hope is our last taste of winter.

Spring doesn’t normally arrive until mid-late April and we typically get snow through April and May although it doesn’t stay on the ground.

I’ve got to go to the dentist this morning and I’m adding some extra time for the trip. We’ve gotten another 4″ of snow overnight so I’m sure the highways will be in great condition. Calgary drivers are typically pretty bad, add some snow to the mix and they become downright horrible. People sometimes put their summer tires on in March when the temps are in the teens for the first time, really smart decisions those are.

So, I’m hoping that Spring will arrive in the next while, April is next week, so it should be here soon. This snow will be gone and then local baseball season will begin.

Bring it on.
