I am back on what’s known as “the bench” at work. It menas I do not have an active client and am looking for a new assignment. I am still getting paid though, so that’s good and basically I am upskilling myself to find a new role at IBM.

I am no longer on the Airbus project and, unfortunately, Shared Services is full so there is no position for me. We do apparently have some dedicated clients coming on-board in the next few months, so, once one comes online, I will move over there.

Airbus was good, but, it was incredibly boring as it was a very low ticket client. There were days that we had no tickets to work on at all. So, all in all, this isn’t a bad thing. I will or could be on the bench for a number of months. Time will tell if I get a job elsewhere in IBM or, if I don’t, I will be separated in about 5-6 months or so.

For now, I will enjoy some training. I am also moving to Monday through Friday starting next week, I will be working 6am-2pm. I am losing my 3 and 4 day weekends, but, I am also only working 8 hours a day as opposed to 12. I will have a majority of my afternoons off which will be nice. It will give me time to walk with the dogs at the off-leash park before it’s dark.
